"Fresh traditional food"
I took my mum and daughter pre theatre to this restaurant and used my Hi Life card for discount.....it was excellent. Yes the decor is basic but the food is amazing despite the other poor comments. The restaurant is directly opposite the Festival Theatre, and very handy. The Lunch menu was ideal for my mum who cannot eat big portions at lunch time, every dish was fresh and not laden with food colourants like other restaurants. Staff very friendly and Nan bread light and fluffy .....we will definetly return ......give it a try. Its very easy to find given its location so cannot understand the previous review comments !!!

"Refreshing good Indian food!!"
I went to this restaurant for a dinner in june. The ambience is not eye-catching or grandiose but the managers more than make up for it with their superlative service. The food, unlike many other pseudo Indian restaurants in the UK, is genuinely Indian. The portions are decent and spice levels are reasonable. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to have a genuine, tasty indian food experience!! Must go!

"Great Food and Environment. Personal Attention. One of the very best around"
This is an amazing place. Indian food is as authentic as it gets. During my trip to Hyderabad in India I had great Biryani and wanted to taste it again when I came back. Went to Suruchi one day and asked for Hyderabadi Biryani and requested chef to make it the way it is done typically in Hyderabad. Chef did a commendable job and made even better Biryani which I cannot forget. I have been to this restaurant several times after that and experience the same warmth, welcome, food and aura every time. Must Visit place when you are in Edinburgh

"Great flavours"
Had a lovely curry in Suruchi last night. While the exterior and interior is dark, dingy and not very inviting this is more than compensated by the quality of the food. As a curry lover I thoroughly enjoyed my dish. You can tell a lot of effort had gone in regarding flavour and spices. Only another three tables were occupied when we went in at 5pm although I would imagine it would get busier later. Service could not be faulted. We will probably return some day.

"Don't judge a book by its cover!"
Went here with my girlfriend during the Fringe before going to a show at Underbelly. The first impressions of the place aren't great, and visiting the toilets before eating wasn't a good idea either as they had a lot to be desire for...
However, we were seated promptly, the staff very friendly and the food was really good. One of the best curries I have had. We used a Tastecard on our visit which gave us 50% off our food so was brilliant value for money. We would definitely go back but if anyone from Suruchi is reading this please think about giving the place a little going over with a lick of paint and maybe some new plates and that (think ours were from the 80's)!

"Great, fabulous and authentic food."
I have travelled across India and have been searching for authentic food for the last 2 months. Suruchi has great menu and super food. I don't think you can beat anyone in Edinburgh for Suruchis authenticity. Try the saucy butter chicken. The best west of Delhi. Salmon, trout, venison all get a creative Indian treatment here.

"The food was really really delicious!"
Went here for dinner with my boyfriend. The food was really really delicious! I'm used to authentic indian food and thought the food here was excellent. I had the Butter chicken, which I would recommend to everyone, especially people who don't like spicy food as it's not spicy at all.
My boyfriend had the chicken jalfrezi which was also delicious and not too spicy. The prices were also reasonable, for our two curries, one pain naan bread, one portion of boiled rice and two cokes the total price came to exactly £25, and we left completely full. The portion sizes were just right for us.
The only bad thing I have to say is that we were the only customers there from when we entered till when we left. There was actually more staff in the room than customers, making it a bit awkward and quiet as there wasn't any music playing either. However, this isn't too surprising as it was only 6.30pm on a thursday. The staff were very friendly and attentive and our food arrived quickly.
